Need someone to talk to?
Human beings are social animals- we are wired for connection. Things often feel different after we’ve shared them with another person. It is very helpful to have supportive friends and family, but something different happens when we are able to share with someone who is not part of our day to day lives.
Some people seek counselling in times of crisis, struggle, or feeling stuck. Others come when it feels like it’s time to deal with the past. Additionally, many people choose counselling to help them through life transitions or times of stress that we all face from time to time. Making time to stop, reflect, and step out of habitual reactions can lead to lasting growth and change.
There are many techniques we can choose from, but as you probably know (and research confirms), what's most important is that you trust and like your counsellor. We can create a place where you come to share and reflect, we can lean and practice techniques you can do at home, we can find additional resources, we can work intuitively.
Together, we will explore options to find effective counselling for your unique situation. We will also take into account your personality and your approach to life to help you choose a treatment plan that feels right for you.
No matter what technique(s) we use, I will always come from a trauma informed, person centered place. We will go at your own pace, creating a foundation of trust.
Research is catching up to thousands of years of practice to help explain why yoga seems to make people feel better.
Yoga therapy draws on yogic and Ayurvedic theory to offer supportive practices that are chosen especially for you as an individual.
Sessions may include assessment, movement, meditation, breathing, and/or counselling, depending on what you want and need. Together, we will figure out what is the best option for you.
You may be thinking, "but I'm not flexible!" Neither am I! That doesn't matter. We may not even do physical postures. If we do, know that this is not a yoga class: we will be working within your pain free range of motion to help support your healing.
I am lucky to have a beautiful, cozy office at the Historic Gardens with plenty of room to socially distance.
However, some people would rather not sit in an office. I also offer walking and outdoor sessions. Fresh air, green space, ocean, wetlands, gardens… this is where many of us are at our most comfortable, and where a lot of healing happens.
Please note that we are not as private when we are outdoors, but if you are comfortable with that, this night be a great option for you.
